Night of the Living Ruby

ruby presentation

Halloween 2010, I gave a presentation about Ruby through my student chapter of the ACM to students at WSU.

For that presentation, I learned shoes and made a simple game to catch their interest.

Then we talked a bit about what makes Ruby unique, and went into several examples showing Tweetstream and Growl, Sinatra and Sqlite, and Shoes. For the finale, we made a simple Rails app and put it on Heroku. The people in the audience went to the app and signed up, and it randomly selected one of them to win a flash drive.

All the code is on github, the presentation is up on Vimeo, or you can watch below.
